FAQ

Gang sheet sizing, explained.

What is a gang sheet?

A gang sheet is a single roll of DTF film with multiple designs nested onto it, printed and cured together instead of one at a time. Fitting more designs onto fewer, better-packed sheets cuts wasted film and press time.

How is gang sheet size calculated?

This calculator adds your margin to each design, packs the padded shapes into rows across your sheet width (rotating a design 90° if that lets it fit), and stacks rows top to bottom. The total height of every row is your estimated sheet length.

What is efficiency?

Efficiency is your total design area divided by the total sheet area used, shown as a percentage. Higher efficiency means less blank film between designs — a useful number to watch as you rearrange sizes and quantities.

How is cost per transfer calculated?

Total cost is your sheet length or area times your supplier's rate. Each design's share of that cost is proportional to its share of the total design area, then divided by its quantity to get a cost per piece.

What's the best gang sheet width?

22 inches is the industry-standard DTF roll width and the default here. Narrower 13–16 inch rolls suit smaller runs or entry-level printers; wider 24–30 inch rolls suit higher-volume production — check what your printer and film supplier support.

How is this different from the DTF Gang Sheet Builder?

This calculator estimates size, efficiency and cost from dimensions alone — no file upload, free, no account. The DTF Gang Sheet Builder takes your actual artwork, nests it automatically, and exports the print-ready file your RIP accepts.
